Shreeram Pachindre is the editor of the prestigious Marathi Daily ” Pudhari” published from kolhapur. Besides being a journalist, Shri Panchindre is a well entrenched poet, short story writer, critic and novelist. He has to his credit three compilations of poems titled. “Fulora” (फुलोरा), “Suryapankh” (सूर्यपंख) and “Abhalache Pankh Nile” (आभाळाचे पंख निळे) a short stories compilation under the title “Brashtasurachya katha” (a) as well as books on journalism. Shri Pachindre has also published Marathi Translation of a book on the life of Subhash Chandra Bhose. His “SHAHU” in Marathi is the only novel on the life of Chhatrapati Shahu of Kolhapur. A chapter of this novel has been included in the Text Book for std V (Marathi) published by Maharashtra State Text Book Committee in their Bal-Bharati Series. Two students have been awarded M. Phil Degrees for their critical appraisal of Pachindre’s ‘Shahu’. Shri Pachindre has been the recipient of more than 30 awards for his literary works. He writes ‘Gazal’ as well as Satirical poetry. He is also an acclaimed orator. ‘Shahu’ now appears in English as “Shahu – The Reformer” by Mr. Ramakant Khalap.
Ramakant Khalap is a well known politician from Goa. He was elected six times as Member of Goa Assembly. He was also a Member of Indian parliament (Lok Sabha). He has held posts of Leader of Oppositio Minister and Dy Chief Minister of Goa. He was the Minister of India in the Councils of Ministers of Pr Ministers Shri Deve Gauda and Shri Indra Kumar Gujara But politics is not his only interest. He is an ardent lover of Arts and Literature. He is active in several fields liko education, co-operation, sports etc. He is an avid reader and critic of literature. He contributes to the local media on regular basis. His first compilation of Marathi essays “Pratibheche Dene” has been warmly received in literacy circles. The Book won prestigious awards of Gomantak Marathi Academy and konkan Marathi Sahitya Parishad, Ratnagiri. It’s second edition is now available on book stands. He has plans to publish some more compilations of essays in Marathi and English as well as a collection of his speeches in Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha. Shri Khalap has in the past translated in English the Marathi novel SIMARESHA by late Madhavitai Desai. He has also translated the Marathi Novel Raarang Dhaang of late Prabhakar Pendharkar. These books are awaiting publication. The present novel is the first novel in English on the life of the Social Reformer King Chhatrapati Shahu of Kolhapur. It is an English version of the Marathi novel “Shahu” by Shri Shreeram G. Pachindre.
